On Weekends...

I should have posted this yesterday but I have a two day work week(be jealous its ok) so I have been crazy busy.

But I wanted to share this little bit of photos with you! I did almost everything I said I was going to do on my Five on Friday list this weekend....only missing watching Catching Fire.

Ice Skating at Millennium Park Friday night!
We had two other couples join us so that was a lot of fun :)

Saturday night...celebrated this girl's birthday!

Sunday....even though it was damn near freezing at 19 out we went paintballing!
Mrs. M joined us...so now she is officially a badass...running marathons and paintballing...she does it all :)

Can't  be complete without at least showing one ridiculous welt I have!

How was your weekend??

Five on Friday!

Its Friday!!! Wooo hooo!
I figured I would share 5 things I plan to do this weekend....

Go Ice Skating in Millennium Park with a bunch of other couples from our Meetup Group!
Of course, it is going to be damn cold all weekend...of course.

Watch last night's episode of Scandal. Really hoping to do that today...drives me nuts when I am more than a day behind it!

See Catching Fire!
I am sad I didn't see the midnight show but I have to be up 5 am on the daily...just couldn't do it to myself and then I will re-read the book like I always do right after I see a movie!

Celebrate my good friend Summer's birthday at Opart Thai House
I haven't had much time with her since I got back but I am excited to have dinner with all the girls and just celebrate!
birthday girl in the middle!

I am now worried because it is going to be a high of 25! Yikes but it is the last chance to go this year before the snow so I will suck  it up and get shot at!
Also..side note ladies but paintball is actually a great exercise! I burned 1200 calories last time! I turned my watch off whenever we were sitting between games but in total we got a full 2 hours 20 mins of play and that burned tons!

What do you have planned for this weekend??

On wanderlust...

Even though I have only been back in the states for 4 months and 5 days and I would be lying if I said I haven't been looking for a new place to go.

I think I might need a vacation to help me calm down but being back in this rat race in such a go go go mentality after a much simpler lifestyle in Thailand/China has been difficult.

I missed Chicago, I really did and all my family & friends but I miss being somewhere else now too..

I've been looking at teaching jobs in Costa Rica, Peru and Spain..actually basically anywhere in Europe or Latin America. I got an email from a friend about a job in Russia BUT I think maybe I am done with communist countries for awhile.

Does anyone out there deal with this??

So that being said...I have obviously started looking for places to vacation before The Boy gives up and leaves when he finds out I have been applying to jobs in foreign countries again! Just Kidding not really

Costa Rica

Anywhere at this point to be honest....
I think this defines me perfectly

On Tv....

Every once in a while I will come across some smart ass who likes to tell everyone they can that they are too busy to watch TV and too busy for social media. That's great. Good for you. I on the other hand, love a good TV show and spend far too much time on social media and I do not have a problem with it.

So I thought I would share some of my favorite shows!

This show though...seriously. I LOVE it. I do not miss an episode and haven't since it started, I often take to twitter when watching to discuss it with other #Gladiatorsinsuits as well. If you don't know what that means you need to watch the show. Never have I ever wanted to work in politics more and never have I ever wanted the President to cheat on his wife more. yep. I'm a sick individual.

#2- Grey's Anatomy

I know a lot of people have given up on this show but I can't do it. It is my weekly chance to cry without judgement, stare at beautiful men and pretend I have a clue about medical procedures so that when The Boy says something I can say "Oh yea I know what that is, I saw it on Greys!"  Also...this is where I learned the amazing power of a 30 second dance party!

#3- True Blood

I admit it..I love vampire stuff. Its a sick obsession that led me to True Blood but I can't help myself. First off...seriously Eric though? That man...ooh that man. There is violence, sex and vampire stuff = happy happy. In case you haven't seen it, do not under any circumstances watch this around your parents. Just weird.

#4- Shameless

The US version because I couldn't understand half of what the UK cast was saying. I love it. Its completely dysfunctional and perfect for me. I don't have much else to say except I love Lip. I really do.

#5 Sons of Anarchy

Yes & Yes. I mean really look at him and he is all in his biker stuff..so sessy. Also, I have a very strange love for Tig who is so warped and messed up in the head that he might actually work as my prince charming should The Boy & I not work out. #Dontjudgeme

and then.....

there are some newer shows that I found when I had lots of downtime in China that I have become a fan of....

Vampire Diaries
*Oye the men on this show...so sessy!

The Originals
*Actually starting to become a bigger fan of this show than I am Vampire Diaries

The Walking Dead
* How can you not love this show. Its so ridiculous and gross and awesome.

So yea...there are more but luckily I don't watch them at the same time and some aren't on right now. The Top list I never fall behind on but the rest I might leave till a few days off or summer to catch up on.

What are your favorite shows??

Just another Monday...

Well Hello there!

I was completely uninspired last week and rather than post a bunch of link-ups I thought I would give myself a bi-week. I am doing much better this week...I think...it is only Monday so this could change.

Have you felt uninspired to blog at all? What are some tips or ways you got through it??

I thought I would share some photos from my iphone to give you an idea of my life lately....
I really want to warn you that it is mostly food and not enough of excitement

I was dying for some good Thai food so The Boy and I set out to make me some Panag chicken & we did not disappoint

Then I caught a nasty cold....some Pho because who doesn't love it when they are sick!

Went on a tour of  Lake Effect Brewery, that  I mentioned before having heard about it on Stephanie's Blog! We had a great turnout, 3 other couples came out.

Random morning...this is what I have to deal with in bed...

I am not a fan of Mexican food...as I have mentioned a million times before but sometimes I can tolerate it. So we set out for breakfast and ordered Chilaquiles....I had no idea what was coming my way. If this looks huge in photo you have no idea!

By the way it can be found at Amigos Chinos

Random Target visit with my mother....can't make a trip without some kind of ridiculous photo!

I joined a secret santa gift exchange on a blog I follow Fat Mum Slim  I think I mentioned it before...but after stalking my partners FB postings in the group and asking questions on Elfster I finally got some of her gifts and I am soooo excited to send them! They are going to Australia so I am going to put them in the post hopefully by the end of the week. Just waiting for one more thing!

Also...already bought & wrapped my nephew's gift. I refuse to wait till the after Thanksgiving rush to do the easy shopping...it will make me nuts!

For those of you in Illinois you experienced the storms yesterday. I am sending lots of positive thoughts to the people who suffered all the damage by the tornadoes and storms. I was stuck in Target for about an hour because of the rain and wind. For about 20 mins they asked everyone to move to the back of the store and then after I just sat waiting till I thought I would actually be able to drive the 2 miles back to my parents. Definitely scary stuff.

What is going on in your life??

Five on Friday!

What a week! I am so glad its Friday!
So since I have not one special thing to discuss with ya'll I will list 5

One of my the parents brought me a Pie Pumpkin so I will be attempting to make Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread at some point this weekend...if it fails then good old pumpkin pie it is!

If you happen to know any other recipes that use real pumpkin let me know so I can try them!

I signed up for a Belly Dancing class. I am sure I've mentioned before one of my very close friends Bellydancer is well...a belly dancer. She is still in Thailand right now so I thought it would be fun to take a class and show her my moves when she got back but I loved the first class and decided to sign up for a 7 week session at Arabesque Chicago!

Since I joined the class I decided to add some really cute things from Etsy to my Xmas wishlist!

Ya know...just in case you are feeling generous!
have you ever taken a class??

I joined a gift exchange on Fat Mum Slim's blog  and I am super excited. I was paired up with someone in Australia and I have to stalk her on social media and Elfster to figure out just what to get her. Its all very elaborate with a Facebook Group and everything. I love getting things in the mail, so if you like to send mail of any kind feel free to send something my way!!

Two more 5k's coming up I have to sign up for! Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot and Santa Hustle

Because who doesn't love a good themed 5k? If your in Chicago and want to run the Santa Hustle join me! I'm really really really hoping it doesn't snow! It did my first year.

I am excited for the weekend to finally be here! Three day weekend!!
After reading about Vimbly on Stephanie @ Not Entirely Perfect's blog I checked out the options and signed The Boy & I up for the brewery tour...turns out the place is actually walking distance to his house! So I put it in our Couples meetup as an event and it was a big hit so we are going tomorrow with 5 other couples.

I can't think of a better way to spend my Saturday Afternoon!

What is your Five on Friday??

On Thirsty Thursday!

I didn't get to see the CMA's last night....I have boycotted watching live television since I got home. Ain't nobody got time for 3 minutes of commercials every 5 minutes. Nope and Nope. So I will be avoiding anyone's blog who has CMA anything on it...

I have been tossing around the idea of The Boy & I throwing a themed NYE party since we know he can't take the days off to travel like I wanted. So since it is Thirsty Thursday...here are some of the drink ideas I might be using!

BTW if you are in Chicago and looking for a fun themed party to go to for NYE let me know :)

I'm back and forth between a couple themes but I am excited to see how it all works out!
Have you thrown a themed party before?? Any ideas/recommendations???

Hot Chocolate 5K!

My parents ran this 5k a couple years ago and were disappointed with the "chocolate" factor. First I have to say the Goodie Bag was awesome...it was the best run jacket I have gotten in any of the runs I have done.

The expo for packet pickup was fun, everything was set up so easily,  you were even able to try on the jacket to make sure it fit right so you could exchange it. The were lots of stands to shop for different running gear too!

The run itself was pretty standard but since it was a 15k & 5k there were a CRAP TON of people. It took us 30 minutes for our Corral to get to the start line to begin.

Then after the run you get this amazing bowl with some hot chocolate, a bit of chocolate fondue and then treats & a banana to dip in it. Ummmm yes please! I would gladly run 3.2 miles for a bowl of chocolate!

Tell me that doesn't look delicious???

So we ran and it was great, I felt much  better than I have in past 5k's which means I am only improving!

Signs are one of the best parts of the runs!
This guy deserved a huge hug!!

How could you not love a run when you have this in the background???

So it was well worth it and I will definitely sign up for next year...although I do think if I run the 15k my chocolate big should just be a bit bigger!

Did you run it this past weekend? Or have you run it in your city??
