Tips for Thursday!

I thought I might blog about something I have realized I have definitely taken advantage of over the past few years. Ways to meet new people!

A little backstory here: When I moved from the burbs to the city(Chicago) around 5 ish years ago I was sick of the friends I had. They had all decided to get pregnant, move out of state and stop keeping in touch or were just all around turned into shitty people. So I made it a mission to find new friends.

I love meeting new people so I thought I might share some of the ways I have found to work and some I may have heard work.

1. Say Hello. Sounds simple enough right? It can be a little scary and sometimes people won't reciprocate. But if I am at the gym waiting for a class and I see someone who looks friendly I will say hello, strike up a conversation. If I am at the bar and you look like you might be fun to talk to I will talk to you. If you are in line with me at the grocery store and I see something interesting in your cart I will ask you or talk to you. Just  don't be afraid to be friendly.

2. Try more activities alone. I blog alone(obviously?!) so no one can help me make blog friends, I have to do that alone. I have to make comments, attempt to make friendships and follow through with it all on my alone. If I had a friend to do it with I might not be so willing to branch out. I try new gym classes, sign up for random activities alone so that I don't have a crutch to keep me from meeting new people. Try networking events, social/happy hours events, classes, tours anything that involves people and affords you the opportunity to chat!

3. Use the webs! When I first moved I used craigslist...crazy right? But it worked and I met a lot of girls who were looking for the same thing...I actually used to organize monthly dinners and out of all those girls I really meshed with 4-5 and we are still friends. Nowadays there are more decent sites like Meetup.com that are great ways to meet new people. I even use it to help The Boy & I make couple friends.

4. Join a league or group of some sort. If you play sports join a league, if you sing join a signing group, if you do theater join a whatever those are called. Just don't be afraid to join some kind of group and do it alone so you are forced to interact with other people.

5. Look around you and the people you already know. You might be careful how close of a friendship you develop with a coworker if you want to avoid gossip but you never know who you might have things in common with. Don't be afraid to talk to your friends friends or invite them out, or if you have an SO his friends girlfriends. Invite people out and let them bring friends, you will definitely meet more people and maybe make a great friendship out of it. Best way for this is to invite 2-3 friends out to dinner and ask them to invite a friend who might be interested in meeting new people. Then you have 2-3 new people you can meet!

The most important tip I wish someone had given me was to just be yourself and not worry about if you are the right kind of person for whoever you meet. We all have different personalities so you can't please everyone!

Humpday Confessions!

Its that time again....

I confess....

-I finally decided to get my shit together after stepping on the scale for the first time in 4 months. I could say I have no clue how that shit got that bad but I do...so taking ownership and getting right

-Since I decided to get shit done I am now suffering from 2nd day leg day recovery...

-I am super excited that I won tickets to see Dierks Bentley Thursday night! I will be daydreaming about that man all day tomorrow!

-Finding something that makes me happy every day for the past 12 days has been awesome! I will make it to the 100 days!! It really has made me stop and look at things and see how small things really do add up!

-I definitely confess...I need to learn to be much more respectful in my relationship with The Boy. Actually I think we both do. We are both very short tempered and I can be a major bitchass and I need to remember that I am super polite and kind to everyone else and definitely wouldn't talk to other people in my life that way so I need to be the same with him.

- I dislike when people act like being a certain age gives you an excuse to say "I'm too old for this or that" and especially when they do it to be condescending.  I don't believe you are too old for shit. I met people from all over the world who decided they were going to quit their miserable lives and make better ones. Being 30 does not mean that you can't have a week where you go out every night and have fun. Being 25 does not magically mean that you should start looking for a husband and thinking about kids. Being 45 does not mean that you can't decide you want to travel the world. Being 70 doesn't mean you have to start wearing moo moos instead of some outfit that makes you feel sexy. If people don't want to do something that is fine but don't blame your age. I am 29, if I don't want to go out, pop mollys and dance my ass off at an EDM concert on a Tuesday night it is not because I am too old for it, it is because I don't want to do it.  Own it and stop blaming your age.

Ok...that one got a little long. What do you confess today???

Tasty Tuesday

I'm supposed to share a recipe but since all I have been doing the past week is rushing home to pack and watch TV I have no new recipes. So instead I will share some recipes I plan to try in March via Pinterest, of course,

So there you have it.....

Incredible Squash Pizza
I'm lactose intolerant so any chance to make something resembling pizza that I don't have to swallow chalky pills to eat is a win!

Banana Chocolate Chip Donuts
Because eating clean or not these need to be made and eaten asap.

Spaghetti Squash Mac & Cheese
I effing love spaghetti squash and who doesn't love mac & cheese???

Paleo Breakfast Bites
In all seriousness I am sick of eating plain egg whites...something has to look more appetizing for me to avoid those Dunkin Donuts trips!

There will be plenty more but since I don't want to lie and say I will make a ton I will stick with these!!
What is one of your fave recipes??

Tasty Tuesday on Thursday....

Since I used Tuesday to announce my blogiversary giveaway...which you should check out if you haven't already I thought I might post my tasty recipe today instead!

(I ended up eating a few before I got a good photo)

Ingredients:
3/4 C. unsalted butter
3/4 C. brown sugar
1/4 C. granulated sugar
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla
2 C of flour
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt(I used sea salt)
1 C Kraft Caramel bits(or in my case cut up pieces of caramel)
1/2 C crushed pretzels

Preheat oven to 350° F. In a bowl beat sugar and butter until fluffy, add egg and vanilla. Then mix in cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Stir in chocolate chips, crushed pretzels and caramel. *The dough will be chunky and look kinda dry. Spoon onto baking sheet and sprinkle with salt & pretzel.

Bake 8-10 minutes or until they start to get gold around the edges but don't over cook.

Then enjoy! They are seriously so delicious!

I'm a mess, I must confess...

Don't forget to check out my blogiversary giveaway!!

I must confess....

-Yesterday I mixed my crystal light energy thing into my water & then downed two midol on an empty stomach...you might as well have given me crack because I was shaking & my heart was racing for hours. Lesson learned...

-Even though I give The Boy so much shit for his ghetto ass choices in music and his undying love for Tyga sometimes on my insanely long drive I catch myself listening to one some of his songs and unfortunately knowing all the words.

Lap Dance - Tyga by Drake,Lil Wayne,Jay-Z,Kayne West,Wiz Khalifa,Big Sean,Dirty Rhymez,Big Krit,Waka Flocka,Gucci Mane,Rick Ross,Young Jeezy,J.Cole,Meek Mill,Wale,T-Pain,YelaWolf,Chevy Woods,Future,Tyga,Trey Songz on Grooveshark

*for your listening pleasure....

-I had way too much fun shopping for the stuff to go in the box for the giveaway...I pretty much ended up buying double for myself. Including the chocolate..which is not helping my "eating better"

-I desperately need to figure out how to fix my Nook before my book collection turns into hoarder status. I shit you not when I moved all my crap before I left for Asia 5 boxes were books. I have a problem.

-Having this in my house would give me a massive girl boner(stole that from Kathy):

-I want to book a flight to visit my long time friend who just moved to Utah during my spring break...but then I realized that it will be that time of the month and now I just don't know. I hate traveling and trying to be cheery when there is a war raging in my uterus.

-Now I feel like I have to say something so that I don't end this blog post talking about my lady parts.
So ummm.....I confess I bit of a crush on Sheldon:

What are you confessing today??

Five on Friday!

Its that time again...but first let me tell you all that my Thursday was a giant SHITSHOW and because of it I had to take the bus to work this morning...(I don't mind taking the bus, its paying out of my ass for a car that I can't drive that I mind)

I got out of work yesterday and was all like:

So today we will go with my top 5 fave male actors crushes. Sidenote: this is based entirely on how hot I think they are and how quickly I would put the business on them if left alone.

{1}
Jai Courtney
If anyone ever accused me of liking a certain type this might just be it right here. He is so hot I can't even stand it.

{2}
Tom Hardy
This gorgeous piece of business would get it. No joke.

{3}
Javier Bardem
There has to be one that is older right? Not old, just older. I find him so sexy, especially in a suit!

{4}
Charlie Hunnam
He looks hot anyway but I am all about the scruffy long haired look for him because it makes me think of SOA!

{5}
Jason Mamoa
Some people probably have no clue who he is and that is ok, because that means he can be all mine! He is some kinda rough sessy I can't even describe.

Is it hot in here or is it just me? Oooh I think I need  cold shower now.

Have a great weekend!

Its ok!

Remember Its Ok Thursday? What ever happened to that link up? It was the one day a week I could excuse my nonsense...Well I am going to just go with it this one time..and so I don't get bitched out: This idea belongs to Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup

Now....its Ok....

-That I said I was hosting a giveaway and then slacked my ass off and haven't even gotten it started. Ok...thats not actually ok but I promise promise it will be live on Monday with all my fave things!

-That I have been a negative nelly for the past couple weeks. Its not usually in my nature, I am generally very positive and happy BUT everyone gets to be in a slump without having to add to that by feeling bad that they can't be positive for everyone

-That as much as I would like to go on a vacation tomorrow...I have to be responsible and pay bills first. Maybe.

-That I was completely irresponsible and now the Illinois Tollway a SHIT ton of money. not just a little bit...a SHIT ton.

-That The Boy and I don't ever really do anything different for Valentine's day. I don't hate the day, neither does he, we just never started to make it a thing so it never became one.
Side note: I do think I need to make it clear to him that he must start showing me love the rest of the year though. A bitch could use a damn flower once in a while...shit.

-That I unfollowed the hell out of some blogs this week. I was feeling bad about it but it was super annoying to keeping marking tons of posts as read on Bloglovin.

-That I skipped that boot camp class I was so excited for on Monday because my entire body was a walking bruise from this weekend. I will get my shit together...I will.

-That sometimes my posts include more curse words than sailors drop on the daily.

That's all folks!

Tasty Tuesday

Sometimes I like to make recipes exactly as I find them and then sometimes I like to play around with them. I have made so many variations of brownies it is probably going to end up being the cause of my death. But that isn't the point of this post...the past couple of weeks we have had a dinner drive at the school for a family who just had a new baby and I signed up to make a dinner for one day...so I searched and searched and then put together a couple different recipes for

Broccoli Quinoa Casserole

One 10 oz can condensed Cream of Broccoli soup
1/3 cup reduced fat mayonnaise
2 tablespoons milk
1 1/4 cups reduced fat shredded cheese (cheddar, colby-jack, etc)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
2 cups fresh broccoli
1 1/2 cups  COOKED quinoa
1 tbsp & 1/4 cup minced garlic(optional if you don't like garlic)

To cook quinoa:
3/4 cup quinoa
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 teaspoon salt

In a small pot cook quinoa following directions, add 1 tbsp minced garlic.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease/spray casserole dish. Chop broccoli up into smaller/bite sized pieces.

In a large bowl combine the soup, mayonnaise, milk, 1 cup shredded cheese, pepper, and garlic until well mixed. Stir in the quinoa and broccoli.

Pour into casserole dish, add remaining cheese and bake for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly on the edges and golden.

Voila!!! yummy food!

how about all those pics right?? Getting way better about this stuff!
